Worried About my Chances!!! Please Help!!

Hi, I’m a student from California and I am going to be a senior next school year. I am worried about my chances for some UC’s and some other institutions. I’ll take any help I get and thank you in advance!!! I’ll try to be thorough.

Race: Pakistan/South Asian
Gender: M

Unweighted GPA (9-12): 3.6375
Weighted GPA (9-12): 4.1125

UC GPA
Unweighted GPA = 3.458 (this is my only regret I’ll explain later)
Capped/Weighted GPA = 3.79
Uncapped GPA = 4.125

SAT I: 1550/1600
SAT II: Physics: 760, M2 750, Chem: 750
Class Rank: 17/398 (Pretty average HS)
AP Scores: (11 in total) all 5s and 4s

ECs: kind of tired rn so I have held leadership in 3 clubs for 3 years + 2 varsity sports (soccer, track) for 4 years
idk if this counts for EC but I’ve earned almost 10k in scholarships through various contests and stuff I found online myself

Major: Undeclared r/n

I had a god awful sophomore year like a 3.0/3.4 unw/weighted for both semesters and a D/C in AP Physics 1 for the year, idk wtf was wrong with me like I just didn’t care about school and then junior year I got a 4.0/4.67 for the year…and I think this will basically kill my chances for UCB and UCLA cuz UC will only do 10-11 in gpa calc :frowning:

I am still wondering about UCSD, UCSB, and UCI, and a couple OOS like UMich and schools within that tier. Do you guys think I have a reasonable chance?

UC’s are very GPA focused so with that said, it will be tough for UCSD/UCI and UCSB since the average UC GPA’s are 4.0+. Your SAT scores are very competitive, so it does show that you are a very capable applicant, but your HS transcript says otherwise. It is worth applying to the UC’s, but probably should add UCR and UCSC to the mix along with a few Cal states so you have some solid choices. In one of the short answer essays, I would address how you were able to turn things around in your Junior year. Hopefully, outstanding essays and your leadership positions could help your chances.

Good Luck.
