Worried about my chances?

I just finished my first year of college. To say the least, it was a tumultuous one. Anyways, I'm pre-med and always been my whole life, but the first year has me doubting. My first semester i got straight A's ( Bio II included) except for the Bio II lab which i got a B. The past semester I did terrible though. I overburdened myself with way too many classes, and as a result I got a D in two classes ( Chem, and Human Physiology). The other classes I did very mediocre ( two B's and two C's). I can retake those two classes that I failed, but I'm still worried that it will look bad in my application for medical school. Basically I'm worried about my chances. I know I will not commit the same mistake of taking way too many classes and overburdening myself but i'm still worried. My GPA went from a 3.8 to a 2.9 this semester. So I just wanted to hear some opinions or helpful tips on what I should do..

Do yer best. The only sufficient advice I, being a junior, can give you is that there must be AT LEAST some flaws within you hence D’s in chemistry and Human Physiology. Not to forget the fact that grades such as D’s are not respected. Before I sound too smart (nerdy), I personally get B-'s but in two subjects FRENCH AND ENGLISH. Both are low because the teachers aren’t that good so the best I can do is B- range? Here’s the thing if you think you did your best and you are not getting the score, fight for it. Otherwise, have guts to accept it. (Period)

Hope that helps. Good Luck Chris!

According to AAMC, you will need to submit all grades. The course and the retake. So you will Definitely need to retake it. That’s not a question. But if it’s not an A, then it will look bad.

Those grades will look bad, but you still have ECs, LOR, and MCAT.

Buckle down and don’t overload yourself. Right now I would focus on graduating in time to say the least. With a decent gpa.

That C, is kind of a red flag too. You need to improve your gpa to minimum 3.5, by application season, to be considered in an allopathic school. (MD).

Right now, if I were you, I’d focus big time. You need to have a big talk with your pre-med advisor and start sorting things out, even if it’s suggesting you do a Post-bac to increase gpa.
