Hey guys! So I recently got back my SAT subject test scores and they weren’t as great as I hoped they were (as in I wouldn’t send them to colleges). Because of pomona’s scoring policy, I basically have to send all my scores. If they’re not that great, do you think it could negatively impact my application? I’m planning on applying ED I. I think generally, my test scores aren’t very great but I think like I excel in other areas of my application like my essay or EC’s.
You do need to send all of your scores. What are your subject test scores? Did you take them all on the same day? For a frame of reference, what are your SAT and/or ACT scores? What is your unweighted and weighted GPA? I believe that while subject tests are important, they are not as important as your high school grades, essays, and EC’s.
@rav525 They were horrible and yeah I did. I got like high 600s. My ACT score is 34. I don’t have weighted GPA but my unweighted is 3.83. I have taken predominantly honors and AP classes (I’m taking 5 AP’s this year). I think my EC’s are pretty decent and I’ve done pretty well on a national level.
Sat scores are required. Subject tests are optional. You do not have to send your subject test scores.
Thanks for the correction. I did just see that they have changed requirements that you now do not have to send subject tests: http://www.pomona.edu/admissions/first-year-admissions/testing
Also, they will use your 34 ACT score over your lower SAT score. Although it is a reach school for everyone, your stats are very good!
How did your AP testing go? Best wishes, and keep working hard! Pomona is a great school!
Follow the link above. You do not need to submit any scores other than your ACT.
Best of luck.
Make sure you read this page, too: http://www.pomona.edu/admissions-aid/admissions/first-year-admissions/testing-requirements/sat-and-act-test-reporting
Ooh I totally didn’t notice that at all! Thank you everyone:) I really appreciate the help; I was kinda worried for a second!
@rav525 I got a 5 and two 4’s on Gov, Calc AB, and French. And thanks!!
And, one more thing if you are among those who want to apply ED1 but are victims of the September ACT processing delay (it appears Pomona is being nicely flexible on this): http://www.pomona.edu/admissions/first-year-admissions/testing/act-reporting-delay
