Hey All! I’m going to be a freshman this fall majoring in biology and have concerns over my current schedule.
My entire schedule was made for me and when I talked with academic advising over the work-load they stated If I dropped chem then I’d be their a 5th year and I needed to do this and kinda spooked me.
My schedule is as follows
Bio and bio lab (4 credits)
Biology and life (1 credit course on being a scientist idk but its mandatory with bio)
Chem and chem lab (4 credits)
Calculus I ( 3 credits)
Theater and Film *my only option (3 credits)
Living in the natural world (1 credit course for being in a science and math RLC).
What do you plan do do with your degree in bio? My daughter was a marine bio major and had 3 labs nearly every semester. This seems like a fairly typical schedule.
I plan on doing PT or genetic research, my only reason for being apprehensive is due to so many people saying that wow that’s a lot or for a first semester that seems to be an overload but most of them aren’t science"y" people such as myself
Seems like a typical biology major schedule, assuming no AP credit for advanced placement in math etc…
Total is 16 credits, including two 1 credit courses that probably are not that much work. You need to average 15 or 16 credits per semester to finish in 8 semesters (depending on whether you school requires 120 or 128 credits to graduate).
Looks like theater and film is there to fulfill a general education requirement. If you are not that interested in it, is it really the case that there are no other open courses that can fulfill any general education requirements you need?
That seems reasonable to me. My incoming freshman has 17 credit hours, two with labs.
The theater and Film is a required first year seminar and I preferred it over several others along with having some knowledge about film
