I've been reading past threads about people that have been admitted to UCI but all of their stats seem to be like high GPA (4.0ish) with a high SAT score (1800+) and I'm just curious if anyone out there had considerably lower stats than these people and still got into UCI ? Like if you go to the UCI Freshmen 2009 profile it shows the number of people with a certain GPA like 3.0-3.3 , 3.3-3.6, 3.6-3.9, etc and how many from each group are admitted and a decent amount of people with a 3.3-3.6 still get into UCI but what makes them get in? I have a 3.4 GPA with a 1820 SAT score with certain extra curriculars such as ASB, Red Cross, and soccer and I believe my personal statements are pretty good and to the point so are the chances of me getting in or are these people with a 3.3 GPA have something that other people don't have ?

Don’t worry about it. Frankly, MOST people on this website have over-the-top qualifications. You’re seeing a lot of 4.0s because that’s the type of student (mostly) that comes on CC, not because that’s the only type of student that gets into UCI.

^ thanks raelah haha kinda figured that most of the kids here were over achievers which is not a bad thing of course but makes me feel much better about my chances.

I know a lot of people are using uc irvine as a backup school so that should explain some of the stats on the freshman profile. And CC is full of overachievers anyway. Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll be fine. :)
