Worried about UMass Amherst

Hi, I’m a latino who’s going to apply to US universities for the 2016-2017 schoo year. I’m US Citizen too, and my dad lives and works in Massachusetts. UMass Amherst is my top choice, I LOVE the university and want to get accepted so badly, but I’m worried will get rejected, since my main focus is to get into that school. Sure, I have many other universities that I love, but UMass Amherst is definitely my #1.

I did a pre-college program at UMass this summer where I took Engineering and a Enterpeneurship programs. I loved it and loved the campus. I want to study Industrial Engineering. Do you think the Pre-College programs will help me get accepted at UMass, is it seen as a positive thing? I have a 1660 SAT and will take it again in November (take into account that I don’t live in the USA and we don’t prepare for the SAT as early as you guys do…)

I just want some honest opinions cause it freaks me out just thinkin about a rejection letter from UMass.

Check out the stats in the link below:

https://www.umass.edu/admissions/facts-and-figures/student-body-and-admissions-statistics

For the Class of 2013 -
Middle SAT: Critical Reading 640-540 / Math 670-570

Therefore, you should focus on improving your SAT math & CR scores. There is no mention of the writing score, so it may not count at all or as much.

Hope this helps. Good luck! : )

Coach Jen

You shouldn’t only worry about UMass. Find other schools to apply to

It UMas your only choice? There’s a massive number of universities you can apply to. Just be open to them
