Worried high school freshman help!!!!!

I'm a freshman in High School and ever since i found this website and realized i wanted to be an investment banker and started reading stuff ive been extremely stressed out and depressed and worried that i wont get into a top 25 business school and never break into IB so literally ive done nothing but hate myself and worry for the past 2 months and i dont think its healthy. What do i do? i need to calm down but i cant!

(Just happened to stumble on this thread)

Going to a top 25 business school doesn’t guarantee you a job in IB. It definitely helps, but you have to stop stressing out over this, especially if you’re a freshman. Worry about your grades and extracurriculars before you worry about college. How ironic would it be if you worry so much about going to college to the point where it deters your ability to get good grades.
As a lazy underachiever who only began thinking about college my senior year, I will be attending a decent/subpar/less business oriented school of UCSD. Even though I have less opportunities compared to those in the top colleges, I just have to make sure I go out of my way to do good now and create those opportunities. I have an econ internship with
Honda Motor Co. this summer. Not exactly IB, but it’s definitely something.
What I’m trying to say is that even if you don’t get into a top 25 business school, just do your best and let the pieces fall where they may.

Who knows. 3 years from now, you might not be interested anymore. Don’t let the attraction of money lead you to IB. That’s the mistake many people make.

Whoa, Patrick. Whoa. You’re in the 9th grade and you’re worried about a) college and b) your career? Really? Trolling? If so, fine…whatever. If not, see your school counselor for starters. Worrying isn’t going to help you at all. Control what you can; forget the rest. Get help. If you’re consumed with anxiety now, in the 9th grade, you will be completely useless in the 11th grade and that really won’t help you get into a good school, will it?

OP, I hope you educate yourself a bit more on IB before pledging your life to it. Yeah, it might seem glamorous on TV and in movies (American Psycho, from which you derived your username), but the hours are incredibly long (visit WallStreetOasis and read some testimonies), the work is stressful, and the money isn’t nearly as great at first as people think it is. You have to be really dead set on IB to want to do it; it isn’t for the faint of heart.

Lol highschool is going to suck for you.

What 13 year old hopes to be an investment banker that works 100hr weeks doing busy work?

Just do well in school, participate in what you enjoy doing, take your classes more seriously than your friends who will probably take them as a joke for the first 2 years, and when your in junior year you will have more than enough time panicking and stressing out about college applications.

Oh before I forget, the admissions office is OKAY with you going out on the weekend and enjoying yourself- don’t be a bookworm.

Lol calm down. I am in a similar situation (exact same) but I don’t stress when I see others doing crazy things on cc. Instead I use cc to the best I can to get as close as I can. Then I step back and realize everything will be okay
