Worried High School Senior please help!!!

My SAT is 2100 with 790 Math, Crit - 650 and writ - 660.
SAT 2 Physics - 800
Chemistry - 730
ECs- varsity Basketball, 2 volunteer work certificates, language.
Ethnicity - Asian, american resident, indian education and citizen

I know that isn't much to start upon but as the application time is coming near i am getting worried that i won't get into any of the colleges i am applying to as all have pretty tough competition like GA Tech, CMU, NW, Purdue, UIUC, Cornell, Columbia, UPenn etc.

Please suggest some safety college for me that i am pretty sure to get into if i am unable to get admission in above listed colleges.

It looks like maybe you are looking for an engineering school? Is that right? Case Western, RIT, Virginia Tech, and Penn State might be additional options for you.

yes engineering schools. How good is RIT and penn state when it comes to placement and job packages?

You may want to post in those forums for particular insight from people with knowledge of the individual schools.

You should be able to get into Georgia Tech, but the other schools are a bit of a reach with the SAT score. If you can get in the 2250+ range for the SAT, you should be in pretty good standings for these schools.

i cant get 2200+ as i am only good at maths out of the 3 sections. I always bomb the English sections. (Why can SAT be made up of only Maths…)

Although extraordinary test scores can be helpful, they aren’t critical for admissions. Don’t be deterred by people who suggest you need a certain baseline score for admission that seems unreasonably high. You will need strong test scores, but many students are admitted to the schools on your list with SATs below 2100.

Because you are an international and depending on how long you have been in the US for school, consideration may be given to the fact that English is not your first language and your lower test scores in CR could be considered in that context.

For accurate information, do an internet search for ‘common data set’ for each school you might consider. Once you find the form, in Section C9 you will see the actual test scores of their first year students at the 25th and 75th percentiles. That will help you see where your stats might actually lie within their student profile. As an example, here is a link to Georgia Tech’s: http://www.irp.gatech.edu/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/CDS_2012-2013-Final-05-3-2013-2.pdf

GA Tech Common Data Set 2012-2013
25th and 75th percentiles:
SAT Critical Reading 600 700
SAT Math 660 760
SAT Writing 610 700
SAT Essay 8 10

maths…

Are you an int’l student? Do you have a green card?

You live in the US??? Which state?

You’re applying to a number of schools that don’t give aid to int’ls or OOS students. How much will your parents pay each year?

If your parents will pay all costs, then fine. If not, then you need a new list.

You’ll get into Purdue…very likely

Yes, Purdue should be a match. GA Tech would be a match to high match. UIUC would be a high match.
