Worried Junior Loving UNC

Hey everyone! I just have to say that I am one worried junior! I live in Maryland and I've heard it's so much harder for out-of-staters to get in.

So far my GPA is 3.9 UW, 4.2 W
I got straight A's freshman year and one B sophmore year
This year I'm getting quite a few B's but hopefully my grades will go up by the end of the semester
I'm taking mostly honors and APs

I'm captain of my track team and I have pretty good stats, quite a few awards and so far I've been recruited to a school in MD

Basically, I'm stressing because I LOVE UNC. I haven't taken the SAT/ACTs yet and I'm probably going to take the SAT IIs as well.

If anyone has any advice on what UNC is looking for, that would be great. Thanks so much!

Even if you don't do the greatest on the SAT/ACT, still give it a shot, UNC is one of very few public schools that really scrutinize the more subjective factors of your application. Your recommendations will be read, your essays will be read, and your extracurriculars will be looked at! This isn't to say not to do well on your SAT/ACT, as a high score will definitely help your case, but a low (within reason) score will not keep you out IF you make up for it in other parts of the application (ie performing well in AP/IB classes, high class rank, and the aforementioned recs, essays, and ecs).

Thanks so much! That's really good to know :)
