Worried Undergrad applying to Chemical Engineering

Hi all, I’m going to be a Undergrad Senior with a Major in Chemistry and heavy in Physics electives and I was wondering where I should be applying to. I have around a 3.0 GPA, haven’t taken GRE yet and have only had 1 internship (chem research). I’m from New York so I want to apply to schools in the northeast area for Chemical Engineering and maybe Materials Science. I’m not sure how to look for programs so I’ve mostly been googling and I have no idea how hard these programs are. Any suggestions on schools to apply towards or help on figuring out admittance difficulty. These are the schools for Chemical Engineering I have in mind so far, let me know how my list can improve.

SUNY Poly ----Nanoscale Engineering
SUNY Buffalo ----Chemical and Biological Engineering
SUNY Binghamton ----Material Science and Engineering
Clarkson Uni ----Chemical Engineering
Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute----Chemical and Biological Engineering
RIT ----Materials Science and Engineering
Syracuse University ----Chemical Engineering
Rochester University ----Chemical Engineering
Uni of Connecticut ----Material Science and Engineering
The City College of NY ----Chemical Engineering

@chemhelpv - Masters or PhD?

I really think you shouldn’t limit yourself geographically like that.

A 3.0 is sort of marginal for one who is planning to switch fields and will need a significant amount of remedial coursework. You should definitely apply to the programs you want (I presume location is important to you) but be prepared to be admitted only to a MS program which will likely be self-funded. An alternative option might be to work for a while and then apply after gaining experience.

Another alternative would be an on-line master’s engineering degree from a reputable university. In most cases, the diploma looks exactly the same as an on-campus degree. You would pay for it but you could possibly work at the same time.
