<p>1) this is only first semester
2) Do you attend a school where there is good support? can you go to your professors for help and guidance? if so, you should have been there already, but if you haven’t, that is one step you need to take next semester to transform your grades</p>
<p>3) College is not high school; there are different parameters for success, but most importantly, you may not have the tools (yet) to accomplish what you want to; GET HELP!! as mentioned above, professors, peer group tutors, etc are available at almost ALL institutions of higher education…</p>
<p>4) you have taken the first step; you know you need help…now you have to figure out where to get it…if you are not the kind of student who needed or asked for help in HS, this may be a longer process for you but not unattainable…</p>

<p>one added note: with an “A” in English, you obviously know how to write; social sciences (like women’s studies) may require a different type of writing than you may be used to in English…that would be a good place to start; the critical thinking skills or the requirements may be different…</p>
