Yesterday I received a refund in the mail of $55 which I am assuming is from the application fee. Why am I getting a refund for my application? I didn't have a waiver? Are they giving me one? I'm worried that somehow my application got retracted or lost or something bad. Did anyone receive this this refund check and/or do you know why?

Call them immediately and know the reason. There must be some technical problem with your application or fee payment. Be positive and talk to them nicely and it will be solved.

My mom called today and apparently I fell under some scholars program and they waived my application . Good sign! I can’t wait until the end of next month.

"The University of Maryland grants fee waivers for National Merit, National Achievement, or National Hispanic finalists or semi-finalists and Maryland Distinguished Scholar finalists, semi-finalists, and honorable mention recipients. We also honor fee waivers granted by the College Board or American College Testing program. All other fee waiver requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. "

They will even refund the fee if you receive one of the above honors AFTER you are already enrolled at the University.

Yeah I also got the letter and my mom called and found out that it was because of MD distinguished scholar.

Yeah, I saw the thing plumazul posted after getting on the website this morning after my mom told me. And then I came to the conclusion it was for the Maryland Distinguished Scholar thing. Which is funny because my counselor told me I wasn’t eligible because I didn’t take 4 years of math (which I did). Apparently because I didn’t take trig last year it made me ineligible but I’m taking it this year so that should count for 4 years. Were we suppose to check the “honorable mention” box for the MD Distinguished Scholar scholarship on the application? I did…
