worried...

Hey everyone... I know a lot of us are worried while we await our decisions, so I'm sorry if this thread just raises that anxiety... I have a concern, and just want to know what your opinions are about it...

Both of my teacher recs are from sophomore year teachers. This mistake wasn't on purpose, but because of the differences between the Common App and Duke's own application. The Duke app specificially asks for you to use 11th/12th grade teachers, while the Common App says nothing about that requirement. I picked those teachers because they knew me the best (through clubs, special projects, etc.) and because 12th grade teachers had only had me as a student for a few months, so I didn't think they would be able to write a personal/quality recommendation. I didn't know about the teacher detail until I had already submitted my Common Application, and it was too late to ask a more recent teacher to write a recommendation. If I had used the Duke Application, I would have had no excuse for using soph. teachers. On the various checklists, guidelines, etc. specific for the Common App on Duke's website, however, there is still no mention of the 11/12th grade requirement.

I'm worried that this inadvertent mistake will be one of those details that doom the application. Perhaps (hopefully) I'm overstressing...I'd appreciate any opinions you may have. Thanks, and good luck to all of you!

def overstressing

^^^^^6^ jah

i dont think it will much affect ur application. This was the case for me too (frosh and soph teachers knew me MUCH betteR) so i sent out 2 senior years teacher recs and then sent 2 additional ones from my frosh and sophomore teachers.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one completely whigging out about this... lol

most colleges expect junior / senior teachers coz academically thats most indicative, but we will find out soon if its a big deal soon wont we? best of luck to you tho.

there's no way your app could hinge on this.

I receieved the likely letter and one of my letters was from a sophomore teacher. I don't think that it matters too much?
