Worried

So basically college applications are confusing.

I used to plan to apply Early Decision to Carleton, Early Action to Rice and Early Notification to UNC -- my best shot at getting at least one of my top three schools. But now Early Decision is out of the question and that leaves all the schools as reaches.

I have visited Carleton twice and interviewed there, and am setting up an interview at Rice.

Top Three: Carleton, Rice, North Carolina
The others: Northwestern, Trinity University, Michigan, Kansas (safety) and... that's it.

My stats are:

I'm also editor of the school paper and do a lot with drama, etc.

Do I have a chance at any of my top three? What about other schools on my list? Thanks!

Your best chances of the three (Carleton, Rice, UNC) is at Carleton where you are a match. Rice is match to slight reach, and UNC (out-of-state) is the same (I'm presuming you are out-of-state--if not, then you are a match at this school).

At far as the others:
Northwestern--match to slight reach (closer to slight reach)
Trinity University (I presume you mean Texas, not Connecticut)--safe match
Michigan--match
Kansas--safety

You picked some pretty tough colleges to apply to--but remember you only need one--so you should go for a few "toughies" especially given your stats. And you were smart enough to pick a different match, a safe match, and a safety.

Good luck.
