I have a serious question. If I were to finish with a B+ (freshmen year), would that honestly affect my chances of getting into an Ivy? Everyone on here has a 4.0, and not all of them get into an Ivy; am I screwed?

No. It’s important to remember that when you’re looking to gain admission to an Ivy school, they are looking for much more than a straight A robot. Obviously straight A’s help, but it’s more about what you overall as a person can bring to the school.

Well, if your extra-curriculars are really good and you are passionate, you’ll be fine. Don’t fuss about freshman year. You still have 3 years left.

Yeah, Colleges also like to see improvement! I had a B/- or so average freshman year (a C+ in Geometry, Oh MY!), but then shaped up and got A averages the next two years. Even though I was barely top 10% at the end of junior year, I got into quite a few excellent schools (UChicago, Amherst, JHU, Yale). And I am not a recruited athlete, URM, or International Olympian :P

So, in total, my advice is try harder, but also enjoy, the next few years! And, keep in mind, not getting into an Ivy League school is okay too, don’t invest all your happiness into that idea. However, if you aren’t going to waver from that goal, definitely try to get mostly As for the future (particularly in whatever your interested in studying in college) and be active in things you enjoy.
