Worries About Second Semester Grades

Hi CC!

I am a current 2nd-semester senior student, in an IB curriculum. I had been accepted to Notre Dame with SAT grade of 1500 and I am a sport orientated student. I did well in the last semester of grade 12 which increased 4 grades raising from 33 in grade 11 to 37. But I am currently worried because my grades are dropping, which is really because the courses are becoming harder. The grade may be dropping back to 33.

I am seriously worried if there are any chances of Notre Dame rescinding their offers with a drop in the grades?

Thanks!

Hi CC!

I am a current senior student in the IB curriculum. I had been accepted to Notre Dame with SAT in 1500 and sports accomplishments. I did well in my 1st semester with the score raised from 33 in junior year to 37. But I am currently worried because my grade had dropped since then because the courses had been harder. My grade had dropped to 33 in the 2nd semester.

My grades semester were:
Design Technology HL 7
Business Management HL 7
English B HL 6
Chinese Lit SL 5
Math SL 7
Psychology SL 5

My current (and junior year) grades are:
Design Technology HL 6 (-1)
Business Management HL 6 (-1)
English B HL 5 (-1)
Chinese Lit SL 5
Math SL 6 (-1)
Psychology SL 5

I am seriously worried if there are chances of Notre Dame rescinding the offers because of the dropped grades.

Thanks

It will be your final transcript that will be reviewed in terms of completed courses and grades. Not quite sure how it translates to the IB grade scale, yet in general if you have more than 2 grades of C on your senior records or one or more Ds, then ND will review their admission offer to you. This does not mean that they will automatically rescind the admission decision though.

You’ll be fine; just don’t get any 4s. My son got two B- grades his last semester. Not even a peep from ND.

He is doing well and loving his freshman year.
