Hello,
Yesterday I was accepted into Northeastern (yay), but I have some concerns and I’m not sure what to do.
So basically, I received an F in my AP Lang class last semester and I was wondering how this could possibly affect my acceptance. I’m not sure if Northeastern looked at my mid-year before giving my acceptance, so I don’t know if they know about my grade. I am kinda worried, and would appreciate any advice on what I should do next. I know an F is the worst thing I could’ve gotten, but there’s nothing I can do now. I hope I don’t get rescinded.
Thank you.
Generally D’s and F’s put you in rescind territory, but they will likely care about the final grade, so there’s still time to improve. It’s better to be up front and open with these things, so it would be good to reach out to your admissions counselor, explain the situation and explain how you plan to bring the grade up in the second semester. If they find this out at the end of the year it’s going to be viewed much worse. If you bring it up to a C on the year you should be fine, and improvement generally will probably help prevent being rescinded.
@PengsPhils Thank you for your comment. Our school gives us semester grades, so I won’t be able to pull it up as you said.
Although, I emailed my admissions counselor and she said they had received my mid-year report, so they must know about my F in the class. Should I still send an explanation + update over my grade and course changes?
Thanks again.
Even if your school gives semester grades it will still be seen in the context of both semesters, so your improvement second semester is still very important here. I would still send the update. There’s a chance your admissions counselor received it but didn’t view it closely yet to “check” it.
@PengsPhils Thanks again for the help. I greatly appreciate it.
