Worse SAT Scores? HELP!!!!

I just got my SATs back today and I actually I did worse than the last time! I admit that I didn't start studying again until the week before but, I didn't think it would hurt me that much! I used khanacademy and the Princeton Review CR and W book. I don't know what I did wrong. Help!

Last Time:
CR: 630
M:470
W: 600
Essay: 8

This Time:
CR: 640
M: 460
W:590
Essay: 8

I might be just overreacting because its just a 10 point different but I thought I did so well! Any idea!

That is what you did wrong. It’s called cramming. Try the ACT next time. Some students do better on that.

I agree. Either take the ACT or put more quality time into studying for the SAT. The SAT Preparation Forum has some great stickied threads to help you out in that respect.

Thanks! Since I have about 3-4 months to study now I’ll take advantage of that. Unfortunately ACT might not be an option since it costs more to send to schools and I have about 15 on my list right now. Trying to save as much money as possible!

What good will a cheaper SAT option do to you, if you don’t improve your SAT scores? Try ACT and see if you do much better. It is better to send fewer better scores, than many bad scores.

I don’t feel the amount of scores would change? I haven’t sent the scores for this SAT and only used the free option for the last one. Also, I’m probably not going to send out the next ones until after I get them.

I understand what you’re saying about getting better scores on the ACT though. I’ll do more research into it. Thanks!

If you’re looking to improve your SAT, the official College Board practice tests help more than anything else.
