Worse SAT second time

I heard that Cornell does not look at SAT writing. Since I got 1550 on M/CR my first try, naturally, I should have stopped there. I retook the SAT anyway because my SAT writing score was pretty low and I wanted to get National Merit Scholarship. My writing score raised to 730 (from low 500s) but my M/CR dropped to 1490. This doesn't hurt me right? I'm kind of unsure because the Cornell website says that Cornell checks all scores. Thanks for reading. Please reply.

Hey. I was recently admitted into Cornell. I took the SAT 3 times and my best score was also my first try. Yes, they do look at all scores, but they want to look at their applicant in their best light too. So, if you did well the first time and not so well the second time, you don’t really need to worry. and congrats on the 1550 too. a 1490 is also not bad. good luck!
