Don't post great stats. we know all of you have them. give us some bad ones so that we feel there is hope. Bad as in no ecs, 600s on sats, 3.5 gpas or my teachers hate me, etc. and tell us instate or oos. this might make us feel better while we wait.

Hmmm, well. I got in c/o 2011 out of state. 680 CR 660 M 680 W....also subject tests...680 Lit, 620 Math 1, 610 Math2, and a horrendous Biology score. A 31 on the ACT probably helped me out, but it seems UVA doesn't really care about the ACT. As you can see, my test scores were very much mediocre, so my extracurriculars and essays must have helped alot. Varsity soccer 4 years, Thespian President, Key Club Secretary; Tennessee Governor's School for the Humanities. Valedictorian of a not-so-great public school.

I agree with Bbailey. I also find it very sad that society judges intelligence based on GPA and SAT scores. Many of the smartest people ever would have done horrible on standardized test, including St. Thomas Aquinas, Immanuel Kant, Ben Franklin, and even Thomas Jefferson.

yeah, i'm a current out of stater from a school on Long Island with a good reputation. As of now, i have a 3.68 GPA, SAT Scores are CR-610 MATH-660 Writing-720. I'm also the president of Jazz Band and Medical Explorers, in National Honor society, a member of 5 other clubs, a 4 year varsity Wrestler and captain and a 3 year varsity lacrosse player and captain. I'm an all county wrestler, saxophone player, and i have county honorable mentions in lacrosse. The truth is that i'm probably below par academically (I think) and my sat score isn't superb, but i think with a 32 on an ACT and good extra curriculars, i have a decent shot. Please get back soon

the only thing is that i'm an out of stater, and that makes it so much tougher. Also, if I want to be a business major, do they emphasize my math scores that much?

filmkeep89...you said that it seems as though uva does not really look at ACTs that much.what makes you think that? i guess its too late now, but i chose not to take the sats and therefore, only submitted act scores, but have great ecs, recs, gpa, essays, talent, the package..literally. ...but the scores are lacking.

It seems to me if you take both the SAT and ACT they like to look at the SAT because most people take it. I say this because I did take both, and your test scores are put into the computer and are able to be accessed for reference. I looked at my scores under my account, and whoever inputs this data forgot to include my highest ACT score (31). Two significantly lower ones I had taken earlier were posted. I emailed the proper person asking if they could update the info so they would know. I got a reply stating they would not update, and it wouldn't really affect me anyway because they do not give much credence to the ACT at UVA. However, if you only took the ACT I don't think it will hurt you, but if you did not take the "strongly recommended" subject tests, in my opinion that may not work in your favor.

guys, either you have terrible attention spans or ?

these are not terrible stats. listing a millions recs is not the topic. SAT scores in the 700's is not a bad score. is there anyone out there that can read. now if you don't understand the question you should not go to uva.

2007Mom, I am an oos (Indiana) freshman applicant UVa and have been told by others on CC that UVa is a reach for me. I also did not receive a likely letter. and by the way, this is the most nervous i have ever been in my life.

If your son/daughter has similar stats as I do he/she will probably be listed as a slight reach by the CC community.

i have been told by my college adviser it is "highly unlikely" i will get into UVA with a 730 cr/670 m/790 w SAT, a 96/4.0 UW GPA, all APs and honors, and assorted leadership and volunteering opportunities. i'm from out of state though (NY).

^^^They are obviously not much of a college advisor. Given, UVa is very difficult OSS but a 2190 SAT, 3.9 GPA, and AP's DOES NOT mean "highly unlikely"...wow

BTW...I got a likely letter w/ 2130 SAT, 3.8 GPA, IB...OSS

OP, I don't know any UVa undergrads but I would go as far to say that the worst stats for acceptance would be a 1200 & 3.3 GPA IS and 1300 & 3.5 GPA OSS.

I don't know. I was told that I have very little chance of getting into UVA out of state with a 3.85 UW 9 APs 5 honors and 2120 (1390/1600) and lit: 730 and Bio : 700. It may be because I'm from Montgomery County, Maryland though... which borders Nothern Virginia and has a crapload of bright students applying to UVA every year. So yea.. not getting my hopes up too much.

2007 mom-- I won't post my stats, but I'll say this. I'm in-state, and I go to a Governor's School. In a class of 160, we had 100 apply to UVA this year. In terms of stats, we've had people with 1800-1850 SATs get in, and people with gpa's as low as 3.2's. Granted, our school name carries a lot of weight with the admissions board, and we've had kids with 2400 SAT's get rejected. And we're in-state. But there's hope for the "mediocre" students (w/ respect to numbers) too. Hope this helps at least a little
