Worst academic night of your life

No horrible academic nights.

If I procrastinate, I'm not going to stay up until 1 AM doing stuff...forget that.

I'll work until midnight and then do the rest during the school day. :p

The dorm, was usually a big happy family, until one night, an accident occurred, that turned the dorm dark and scary in the blink of an eye. In sixth grade, my friend Ester, cut her wrist and had to have several stitches. She was running down the stairs to the bathroom, without thinking she put her hands on a glass pane in the bathroom door, pushing on it and breaking the glass causing the glass to cut her wrist. The house parent came running from her office and my friends and I came from the study room when we heard Ester scream. "I just told you not to run in the dorm Ester! Nicole ran upstairs to the laundry room to get towels to try and stop the bleeding. HURRY!" "I'll never be able to use my arm again!" "Yes you will I am taking you to the hospital to let them fix your arm." The blood looked like bingo chips as it fell on the floor. "I can not believe this is happening, the bleeding is still not under control Lisa!" "It will be all right Jessica, Ester is on her way to the hospital." I just stood around, kind of in shock, unable to believe what had just happened to a close friend. I learned a few days later, that Ester had staples put in her arm. Ester almost lost enough blood to require a transfusion, she was going to be all right. I never looked at that glass door the same way again, even after they replaced the glass pane.

To make matters even worse the next day I had to take the ISTEP Indiana state exams WITHOUT studying.

"LololOLOL! Wow.

Um, [one of] my worst academic night[s] was the day before the first day of school my junior year - I had ~3234 AP summer assignments/projects due the first day of school and I had sooooo planned on not doing them at all. haha. Anyway, somehow came across a grading syllabus/rubric and it turned out that each project was worth like 25% of my grade in each of the classes - YEEEEEEAH. Started working the morning before school started, worked pretty much straight through the whole day without stopping really, worked all through the night, and had to leave for school the next day at 6:30am. Hah. Ridiculous. Pwn'd the projects though, hahah :]"

People like this person crack me up. You're not cool because your a self-professed (and proud of it) procrastinator. You're especially not cool because you make fun of people smart enough to get projects done early and look over them. You remind me of the cocky dickheads at my school who are always trying to one up each other on how much of slackers they truly are.

Not in terms of work, but just in terms of shame, one time I skipped 2 and a half days of school because I wanted to finish an APUSH extra credit assignment. It was worth like 5 points. I have no idea why I did that. I skipped a lot of school to avoid APUSH though, more than I skipped these year to miss my first three pointless bells.

Other than that, the day when I had a chapter for Art History AP due and I had to start and finish a paper for Human Geo AP about a book I hadn't read comes to mind. The paper was meant to be written over first quarter, and depending on which book you choose, you have at most a year in which to complete it. Mine was 6 or 7 pages (double spaced), I forget. I got a 96 on the paper, and the other guy that did the same book read it and got a 97, so I think I used my time more wisely.

None of my nights really stand out that much since every Sunday last year I was up all night doing 30 pages of APUSH reading. I really hated that class.

I hugely procrastinated for my english summer project. i was suppose to read The Iliad, answer reading comprehension questions, find a bunch of quotes on characters and themes, answer 5 short essay answer questions, and then write an essay. I waited till the day before and crammed everthing in...needless to say, i didnt slept till 4 am and woke up at 7 for the first day of school.

I had a close relative die so I had a lot of emotional distress for about a week. I had a formal lab (A big long scientific paper that is minimum 25 pages, 30 if you want a shot at an A, size 12 font double spaced etc, worth 30% of grade) that I hadn't even started. The teacher is an absolute ****** too. You HAVE to turn the paper in to her 25 mins ahead of the time school started, which is exactly 7:20AM. I had a Calc test 1st block, Bio quiz 2nd, AP US History test 3rd, and spanish 2 test (pfft blowoff class) 4th. Started the formal lab at 2:30 pm the previous day, worked till about 4 AM. Started studying for math and US history, fixed up the formal a bit, studied for bio quiz. Was done with everything at around 6:15, took a short nap till 6:45, had my mom speed my to school looking like a zombie and I went through the day.

Not fun.

Man, it was a thursday night. Turns out that i didnt do my outline for AP world. Had a test for AP world as well. Then another for english. So after school, i go to my soccer practice. Then i go to hometown buffet and get home till 9. I finish my outline at 1 am ( 40 pages!!!) and begin studying for that chapter test. I finish that at 2 AM and start studying the english test till 4 AM. once i got to PE, i didnt want to do anything but sleep. and yes i actually slept in PE... the coach takes a long time in explaining a new sport we do, about 40-60 minutes..

I always sleep maybe 30 min - 1hr because I hate saying I pulled overnighters for school. But this one time...

I was working on my APUS finals project (last grade of the year and 2nd semester -- I was at an 89.7 and needed the A) and worked so hard I didn't even recognize that I had pulled an overnighter (sad, isn't it?). But it all paid off because my final grade for the year went up to an EXACT 90.0 from this project.

I seriously called it close, but I'm glad I didn't realize I had been staying up all night and take some 1 hr nap. Otherwise, I don't think my essay would have been as good as it was.

But yes, I'm proud to say I've only done 1 overnighter in high school and that it was totally by accident.
