Have you ever thought if you were just unlucky, even with having the good grades and good stats, that you do not get accepted to any college you apply to?

Then I will either apply to some state rolling admissions school where I can hopefully get a national merit scholarship, or I will buy a car, drive to the middle of nowhere (or Iowa, whichever comes first) and pump gas.

Follow this board back to last year and year before posts. That has actually happened to a number of people, usually because they applied to no safeties.

I have had the fear but I made sure I applied to Rutgers as a last resort... But then I got my Penn State acceptance in the mail and I was pretty sure that I would get into my first choice....

It's happened. For me, its not an option. I'm applying to 4 safeties.

going by the "if I apply to 20 reaches I must get into one" method doesn't always pan out the way you want it to. I don't understand how you can't have at least 1 safety

Definatly wont happen to me. I am applying to 10 and 2 safeties

drusba is 100% right. You don't want to be someone ending up with a last minute desperate search or at a local CC!

In fact, I'd argue that you should spend at least as much time on your safety as on any match or reach, maybe more. Find a safety that you would be ok with attending; maybe not as pleased as if you'd gotten into your 1st choice, but satisfied nonetheless. Bad luck happens, and if you've done it right you're at least sure the safety will take you.

Well in Kansas you have guaranteed admission to all state schools and Washburn University with a 21 ACT.

Now, I haven't taken the ACT, but my state's average is about 21 and my school average is higher than that. So I bet I can manage it.

And that's what people around here do. Also, we have a really good community college less than an hour away.

If i didn't get into any college, i'd probably enlist in the army or something. Hey, this is my hundreth post.
