So I took my SAT IIs this morning (it was a makeup date for the October 16th test b/c of the weather). The second I woke up, my mom was freaking out on me for no reason at all. She was honestly screaming at me for like, 20 minutes straight. Then it stopped for awhile, then she started again. This continued until I got out of the car when we got to the school (she gave me a ride.) This stressed me out so much, and it was just added onto the test anxiety I already had. When I got into the school, I was all shaky and I thought I was going to be sick, so I went to the bathroom. I stayed there for a few minutes, then I ran to my testing room so I wouldn't be late. During all 3 tests (Bio, Math II, Math I, in that order), I tried to concentrate but was often preoccupied by my anxiety and frustration. I also felt like I was going to puke the entire time. As a result, I think I did ok on the last one, but poorly on Bio and Math II. I'm especially concerned about Bio, because I wrote on my application that I'm planning on being a biology major.
How bad will this look to admissions officers? (I applied to Duke ED, btw). I had a good SAT I score (2290), and a solid 3.9 GPA. I also scored a 5 on the AP Bio exam, and a 99 on the NY State Regents Math exam. Will they realize that I had an off day, or will it look like I was just unprepared?
I would really like to know what you CCers think. Thanks in advance for your help...it's been a long day.

You can cancel your scores if you think they will be that bad.

I can't, Duke requires two tests, and this was the last date before the ED deadline. I asked if I could cancel one, but I was told that it's an all-or-nothing deal. I'm just hoping that I'll break 700 on Bio, but I know I won't on Math II.

I'm sorry about your bad experience. Don't worry too much. SAT IIs aren't a dealbreaker. Academic record matters more than test scores according to every college, so as long as you're doing well in terms of senior grades...don't worry about it. If you are really worried, email the admissions office. Of course, be a little careful when you talk about the bad day, don't want to sound like a whiny teenager.

Don't worry all that much on Math2, it has a very gracious (sp?) curve... if you made a 5 on the Bio AP, they will realize you had an off day, though I tihnk it might make that 5 seem less impressive, but they understand it is only one saturday of your life
