Worst Day Of My Life

not exactly, but i just visited brown AND I LOVED IT
I’m definitely not a shoe in but i atleast thought i had some semblance of a chance… 1580/1600 SAT never gotten a B and im 6/800
finished 7 AP’s with 4s and 5s (taking 6 more this year)
really involved and accomplished in both studio art and science research
whatever…

and then i find out that my friend is being recruited to brown for lacrosse!!
She’s signing the papers really soon so its almost a done deal. Ive heard that top university’s wont accept 2 people from the same school usually… even though there are like 3400 kids in my school. AM I RIGHT? ARE MY CHANCES DOWN THE DRAIN?

Absolutely not -- you've been wathing the OC!

Brown accepts multiple people from the same school all the time, as do all top schools. Out of a class of about 800 they might take even more than two. Don't worry! If your application is strong, your chances won't be diminished at all.

They accepted 6 people from my school, and there were only around 130 in my class. I went to a small private school though, so the numbers are probably skewed. (11 people got into UPenn, etc etc).

But yeah, they definitely let in more than one person from a school.

Yeah, what you've heard is wrong.

Definitely, you have been lied to! Time for you to find someone to smack!

I go to a public school and out of 360 students, 5 got into Brown

private school, class of 120, eight into brown. don't worry, your chances havent been hurt at all.

oh my god this is flame if i've ever seen it

I've Brown is one of the ones that accept several from each school. Unlike Princeton, though, I've heard, doesn't like taking kids from their New Jersey! -_-. I'm pretty sure that they won't go against you just because someone else also goes to the same school.

p.s. you listed your score for the old SAT. wouldn't you have to take the new SAT too?

I'm pretty sure you'll have to take the new SAT... better hurry up with it!

Well, nobody likes taking kids from New Jersey...

What I mean is, New Jersey kids apply in really high volumes to a lot of competitive schools, and they're looking for geographic diversity, so it's hard to get in anywhere if you're applying from New Jersey. They probably apply at especially high rates to Princeton, which means if Princeton wants to be a national school, it has to reject even more New Jersey kids.

And yeah... when did you take the old SAT? You're gonna have to take the new one.

Public boarding school, 185 seniors last year. 12 applied to Brown, 4 got in.

It's been that way for years, 10-12 people apply, and 3-5 get in.

You've been lied to.

Yeah that's a bunch of BS.

ESPECIALLY if the other person from your school is an athlete, it shouldn't matter

I was the only acceptance from my school.

Granted, I was the only one who applied.

In the history of the school.

ooh la la amor

my class was psupwned or workforcepwned

lol amor thats awesome =P

It sounds to me like you have a very good chance.
