What are they?

MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, Michigan... :)

somewhere in a 3rd world country

California Maritime Academy...horrible teachers

Anything not ranked in top 100 probably isn't that great for education.

A community college in rural Idaho.

ITT TECH and any other school that advertises on television.

LMAO- i burst out in laughter everytime i see that ITT TECH commercial--i feel guilty though.

whats so bad about ITT tech? i mean its better than nothing right?

Carnegie Mellon

University of Chicago is HORRIBLE for engineering.

I agree, Anything is better than nothing. While some schools like ITT tech may not be one of the premier engineering colleges, It does provide a better future to look forward to to its graduates.

itt tech used to have a comercial where they were putting a 5.25 floppy in upside down :D

anyway: engineering in tennessee. Most of these programs are ridiculously old :(

I beg to differ, IITs are considered among the best (although I hate them with a passion!)

No milki, we didn't mean IIT's (Indian Institutes of Technology) we meant ITT (ITT Technical Institute)
http://www.itt-tech.edu/

I wasn't talking about that Uri. I understand it was about ITT Tech. Institute. (God I hate their ads!) Look at the quote "somewhere in a 3rd world country". India is considered to be a 3rd World Nation, yet IITs command a decent amount of prestige. Not to be a cheerleader for India but our IIMs (and ISB) command salaries at the rate HSB, Stanford GSB and Wharton do.

That aside, China (another 3rd World Country) has good Universities as well.

Uhhhhhhhhh I don't think China and India are considered third world countries.

India is considered third world, China is considered second.

That however is disputed Morning_Theft and GatorEng23. I personally never considered neither countries to be part of the Third World. Many group India and China into "Newly Industrialised Countries (NICs)".

GatorEng, I rely on the HDI and frankly both India and China don't fare so well despite China being part of the Second World in various reports. China was historically "Second World" (According to the Cold War definition) but it considers itself to be part of the "Developing World".

never...neither :P
