Worst GPA in the world. Chance a hopeless Asian noob for reach schools!

Yeah I'm aware that my GPA is terrible especially for top 30 schools that I'm applying to. Do I stand any chance at all? I feel kind of embarrassed even thinking of applying to some of these schools with my GPA >_> but whatever my parents are willing to pay

Schools:
Duke, Cornell, UVA, UCLA, UCB, UMich, UNC-CH, WashU, NYU Stern, Georgetown

EC short answer: Talks about my internship in Credit Suisse

So... yeah. Am I pretty much screwed because of my GPA? I'm planning on getting an interview, but I dunno if it'll help at all. Also, if I get all As 1st semester senior year, how much will that help me? Thanks in advance

no I don’t think you’re screwed. You have a lot of solid ECs and colleges like that. I’d say you would have a worse chance if you had a 4.5 GPA and had only a few ECs, letting colleges know you’re just a brainiac that does nothing but study all day. colleges like well rounded and active students. your GPA is still pretty decent , considering the EC work you were doing. your SAT is excellent and the classes you’re taking are great as well.

i think you can get into NYU Stern (i know someone who got in early with a lower GPA and much less ECs than you), Georgetown, and UVA. maybe cornell

Thanks for the feedback! Anyone else?

In at UVA UMich NYU and probably UNC-CH. The UC’s may be trickier but still a solid chance. Georgetown, Duke, and Cornell could go either way very easily, depending on whether your essays are as good as you said. I don’t know very much about WashU.
Your GPA is not in any way low, and your SATs and ECs more than compensate for it.

Chance back? I’m applying to UVA too. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1274397-chance-uva-ea-w-essays-i-will-reciprocate.html#post13735148

Wait, How did you get an internship at Credit Suisse in HS?

Lol I think you guys might be too generous by saying that I’m “in” at UVA. Isn’t UVA extremely competitive for OOS kids and doesn’t it value GPA a ton? Of course, you could be right, and I really hope so :D

Well, if you’re going to be self-depreciating, I’d say it’s a 70% chance you’ll get in. But you have a better shot than most OOS kids. What East Coast state are you from? New York, Pennsylvania, or Jersey won’t help you.

Do you think that people who worked their asses off to get a 3.3 unweighted might take offense at your post title? I do. Very insensitive.

Why don’t you tell that to the people who cry over a “terrible” top 5% ranking or the kids who retake 2350+s, because I’m sure there are plenty of them around here…
