<p>WORST SITUATION IN MY LIFE - HELP URGENTLY</p>

<p>I have never been SO DEEP in poo in my life before. I am screwed beyond belief.</p>

<p>If you don't want to read all of this, look at the letter down below.</p>

<p>So,
I am a senior year student and just took my midterms this week. I have not yet been accepted to my top college, who has not responded to be for over 3 months, so something is up with them and me. They probably want to see my semester grades.</p>

<p>Specifically, I just took my AP Physics midterm yesterday. I usually get 60-70's on the regular tests we take.</p>

<p>This midterm was composed of 60 multiple choice and two short answer questions. It was specifically the multiple choice questions from the 2006 AP exam. I take the exam and finish with confidence, and relax peacefully the rest of the day.</p>

<p>WORST DAY OF MY LIFE
The next day, which is today, I sit down to take my english midterm. My english teacher comes in, and hands me a letter.</p>

<p>Its a very average, plain white letter, with just two names on it.
On the top left corner, it is my physics teacher's name in pen. In the center of the envelope is my name.
Knowing that has to be bad, I open it up and read the following:</p>

<p>Dear (My first and Last name),</p>

<p>It is clear that on the AP physics Mid-term exam, you and (Friend sitting next to me) turned in essentially the same exam. I recognize that we sometimes make mistakes in life, so I will give you two options to think about.</p>

<p>Option 1: Retake the exam and receive 75% credit. Apologize to me for turning in work that was not your own. Receive a 4 for the citizenship grade. I will forget that this ever happened.</p>

<p>Option 2: Both you and (Friend) will have to retake the exam. If you are not able to produce substantially the same performance, but (friend) is, it will be clear who copied whose paper. If it is found that you copied from (friend), you will receive a 0 for the exam, a 5 for your citizenship grade, and I will have to go through the prescribed academic integrity process.</p>

<p>Please think this over carefully.</p>

<p>My life just sunk down the drain, and just when I was starting my very wordy english exam.</p>

<p>So after trying to calm myself down, I process all of this in my head.
-First, I need to get an 75 on this midterm to get a B for the semester, which is really important. Great.</p>

<p>-Second, there is only one more day of exams, which is tomorrow. I have AP econ and AP calc, so I would have to retake the physics midterm after both exams during our makeup period. My brain will be mush. That means I will have to skip my first exam, take the physics midterm first, and take the skipped one during our makeup period.</p>

<p>-I not only have to study for these two subjects TODAY, but I also have to review PHYSICS, because I completely wiped my brain clean of physics.</p>

<p>So lets say that I did not cheat. That would mean that I would have to go up to him and tell him I didn't cheat. He would either then take out both tests to compare, and show me that they are similar, or just tell me to pick option 2 to prove that I didn't cheat.</p>

<p>The problem with this is that both tests have to be similar, or he would not have accused me of anything.
However, this was a multiple choice test, and it was the same for everything (I heard). All of these tests would be the same and have the same answers.
You then can conclude from this that he was bias against my very high test grade because of my previously low grades. He then probably looked at my friends, who was sitting next to me, and concluded that i cheated off of him (he get's B's and A's).
If I tell him this logic, and he somehow proves that I cheated on the midterm because of the comparisons/simulations between the two tests, he would get me in A LOT of trouble.
Say goodbye to my future.</p>

<p>The problem with option 1 is that I need a 75 on the test or I can't get a B for the quarter, which will really screw me over when I send my semester grades to colleges.</p>

<p>The second option is even more risky, as in I can either succeed or totally fail.</p>

<p>Both options force me to study again, leaving me thinking that if I study A LOT (as in now until 10), I can get a high score, or I can take my chances and take option 1 and try to get a 100....to get a 75</p>

<p>I need to serious advice for this. I can't say that I didn't cheat because he has too many things to prove it, even though they are all bias. However, I didn't cheat, and I do not want to push this to the point where I get suspended for academic integrity; This would ruin absolutely everything in my life....college down the drain, parents would KILL me, loss of respect, everything I have would go bye bye. If I tell him I didn't cheat, and he shows that my test and my friend's test are similar (even though they have to be similar), there is no arguing about it, and he would probably get me in trouble. </p>

<p>In addition to all of this, I have two midterms tomorrow, I have to make up two other standard tests that I missed for math, plus do some work for econ, all for tomorrow.
Three of the hardest subjects in the school, and I have to take all of their midterms tomorrow.</p>

<p>HELP ME, GIVE ME SOME SERIOUS ADVICE</p>

<p>Jesus, if you did well on the exam the first time, there’s no reason you can’t take option 2 and show up your teacher. And really, you don’t wipe your mind of any information before the end of the school year. Especially if you’re going to need that same exact information for an AP test in May.</p>

<p>If I were you, I’d take option 2.</p>

<p>The main problem is that if i tell him I didn’t cheat and take it up with the main office, and then he shows that both tests are completed similar (even though the multiple choice has to be.), I am super screwed.</p>

<p>If you, as you claim, did well the first time without cheating, then there is no reason you can’t do well the second time without cheating.</p>

Also keep in mind that I am logical enough to know that if you copy someones exam you cant have the same exam or it looks suspicious. Also this exam was multiple choice, so they all have to be similar, and he is also bias because I did poorly on everything else.</p>

<p>Yes, I cheated, but not like “copy the whole test”. I looked at some of his multiple choice. However, this alone would not prove absolutely anything. The fact that i got low grades before, and a high one on this rose his suspicions. Even half I the class I talked to said they looked at each others tests.
No, I did not cheat the way he thinks I did.</p>

<p>Its like the SAT, if you got a 1800 originally, and then a 2300 next time, they are going to assume something.</p>

<p>Obviously most of you guys are going to say option 1, but I didn’t really cheat totally. Plus his mindset towards me would change for the worse.</p>

<p>I think it’s pretty obvious that you cheated; if you didn’t cheat, there would be no qualms about retaking the dang exam (Option#2) and no reason to post your dilemma on CC. You are freaking out because you cannot reproduce the same test grade.</p>

<p>EDIT – Posted at the same time as above. Your best bet is Option 1.</p>

<p>You cheated. This is not the worst situation of your life–this is something that you brought upon yourself. I feel bad for your poor friend though. Even if he did well on the test, it’s got to be annoying as hell for him to take it again.</p>

<p>Alright, I like that answer. Any way of studying efficiently for a AP physics midterm? I also need a 75 to get a B, remember, so option 1 is really pushing it.</p>

<p>Also, that good friend of mine does not have to take it again if he doesn’t really want to. I know I brought this upon myself, yet now that its here, i need some advice to deal with it. Also, having your whole highschool career resting on this one test, and the ability of the test to make or break college (my FUTURE), in my opinion, this si the worst situation of my life. I cant think of any others.</p>
