Worst State School Systems

Not all of us can be blessed and live in California, a state with wonderful top-tier UCs, and still excellent lower- to mid-level Cal States.

Which state school systems do you think are the worst?

the texas state university system(its separate from the ut, a&m, and tech systems) including sam houston state located across from scenic death row in huntsville,tx, stephen f. austin state who has an alright forestry program since all there is in nacogdoches is trees, sul ross state, lamar university, and the granddaddy of them all Texas State in San Marcos, for those who get rejected to UT but still wanna be in the Austin party scene.

Other than Temple, Penn State-University Park, and Pittsburgh, there are no good state schools in PA.

The whole Pennsylvania public university system (such as Indiana University of PA, West Chester U of PA, etc...) all suck, as do the Penn State branch campuses.

Penn State and Pitt are fine schools, people from Pennsylvania have no right to complain.

Now New York, there's a state with a crappy system. Considering how many people live there and how wealthy the state is, you would think they could come up with a definitive flagship which offers top-notch programs and a typical college atmosphere.

Wisconsin is definitely the worst.

No Nj sucks. Besides Princeton and Rutgers. Mainly Princeton.

Definately Florida. None of the schools here are that great. At least I don't think so.

Wisconsin, are you kidding me?

new jersey isnt that bad. Sure its no california system - but its still respectable.

first off - princeton isn't part of the state system lol. but anyway - rutgers college is no worse than penn state - and all of u said penn state is a good flagship. Rutgers just doesn't have a great sports program - which i think is what makes penn state more well known than rutgers.

Also, tcnj is quite reputable and difficult to get into. a small school alternative to rutgers.

Jags you're right...and it's sad i didnt know Princeton wasnt part of the state school system haha.

UF, FSU, UM often rate very well for their classes They are not the best but nowhere near the bottom... If I recall UF is number 50 on US News (the big one, not just publics) UMiami is somewhere between 50 and 100 and FSU is around 100.

So basically, definitely NOT florida lol

people should leave out private colleges when discussing the public university system of states ;-)

good point sorry

new york doesnt have a good public school because all the kids go to ivies instead of an instate system. the reason why michigans and virginias have good in state is the fact that smart kids who are middle/low economic class go there...meanwhile in ny the smart kids go to the private schools.

Virginia is good because Virginia is arguably the first and best state :) Go watch Gettysburg and tell me you don't feel Virginian pride.

Everybody knows Pennsylvania is the first state!!!

http://www.ls.net/~newriver/va/cridlin1.htm

Heh heh.....

Arkansas.

The only school we have ranked at all is Hendrix College, at #73 LAC. For a state ~2.8 million.....

I definitely win.

You guys are complaining about states like NJ and FL? Pshhhh you guys are ridiculous. This thread is a competition between Mississippi and Arkansas.

Madison is a very good school, comparable with Ann Arbor
I would nominate South Dakota

Why are so many responders refusing to address the post? The question was about PUBLIC systems. As I feared, everybody is entitled to an opinion but clearly some folks here at CC don't know what they are talking about. Keep on SMILING.
