redlightarea - what was the purpose of you creating this thread? Is there any value to it at all? SAT scores are not the only indicator of success. [I know a girl who got in this year w/ a 2020 for the record.]

lol, you do sound like a stats obsessed douche for saying "gross".

2180 SAT is probably above the avg of all but about five schools.

chill the **** out

Recruited athletes can have significantly lower stats than the typical admittee to Ivies. A recruit needs a min academic index of 171 and then with a coaches tip can then be admitted. There are no athletic scholarships at Ivies, so all aid is need based. I suppose there are a number of ways to assess need

how do you find the academic index? thank you.

[edit] Nevermind, found it through google.
I should have used google before asking. :]

Psh. Redlightarea - you should have known you'd get this crap when you posted something that implies antagonism in the TITLE.

There is a link on the home page of this very site-College Confidential

yea the explanation didn't help...getting into harvard with a 2180 means "sweet" and "you're really talented," not "gross." probably around 30% of the admitted class has done it, too.

anyone else reading this? may i suggest ending this thread, as it is entirely pointless and only encourages the obsession about 50% of the people on this site have with harvard? may i also remind you that there are hundreds of colleges in this country that are not ivy league, and that many people have attended them and gone on to be highly successful ... seriously.

just to clear things up, if you're an athletic recruit to harvard, you need a score of 1200 (old), so a 1320 would be fine...

This is what my friend told me when he got recruited by Harvard. Maybe the cutoff is different depending on the quality of the athlete, but for him, it was 1200.

PS. he didn't make the cutoff, lol
