Santa Barbara Community College, as mentioned previously, is a lovely school that has dorms and the overall atmosphere of a regular college.

It also has a TAG program, which stands for Transfer Admission Guarantee, which is a contract between a student at Santa Barbara City College and a four-year university to which the student intends to transfer. The agreement can ensure admission to a university a year or two in advance.
UC's included in this program are:
Davis
Irvine
Los Angeles (Honors Program)
Merced
Riverside
San Diego
Santa Barbara
Santa Cruz

SBCC also has a Transfer Achievement Program (TAP) which provides additional transfer and academic advisement to economically disadvantaged, educationally disadvantaged, and ethnically underrepresented students.

Transferring into a UC can be complicated (read: bureaucratic nightmare) if a student doesn't follow the required IGETSE classes. I have know students to take a basic English class thinking it would meet the requirement only to find out that they needed a basic English with a college prep designation, and that they one they took didn't qualify.

In other words, carefully advising is invaluable for anyone when thinking about transferring to a UC.
