Worst Teacher You've Ever Had

I may get a ton of flak for this, but…

Teachers unions SUCK. There, I said it.

They consistently block bad teachers from getting fired because of “tenure”. All B.S, I say. If it wasn’t for unions, education would be better. (btw, I’m not against paying teachers, I don’t think they’re paid nearly enough…ideally, they would be payed more than 100k a year so being a teacher meant you would actually have to be qualified…but naturally unions block that notion whenever it comes up).

I think the worst teacher I’ve ever had is actually my Human Language professor in college. But if we’re talking about high school, I think I’d have to to with my 10th grade math teacher. Not only could he not explain a single thing that we had in the curriculum, but he also tested us on things that were way beyond the breadth of the things that he was teaching us. Plus, he helped himself to a rather large chunk of cake on my 15th birthday >.<

Yea, the latin teacher at my school is the union rabble-rouser of my school and she gets all worked up over stupid issues. And she’s not even a good teacher at all. She’s the kind of mediocre person that the union protects.

Junior Honors English teacher. She talked to the class like we were kindergartners and had an annoying habit of twisting people’s answers so they would line up with the “correct” answer. It’s HONORS ENGLISH, lady, people won’t break if you tell them they have the wrong answer!

Oh God, I just remembered the time she made us push all the desks back, sit in a circle, and clap rhythmically while she recited “The Song of Hiawatha.”

I got a decent grade in her class, but because I wasn’t enthusiastic about her busywork, she tried to sabotage me by advising the Senior Honors English teacher not to let me into her class. I talked to the Senior teacher and managed to get in the class anyway. Later I learned that the Senior teacher (who was also the head of the English department) hated Junior teacher’s guts and forced her away from the classroom and into the counseling department the following year.
