Worth a shot? Help!

Hi!
I would like to know if it'd be worth a shot applying to UIUC. I have a 3.78 gpa. and a 21 on the ACT. I'm planning on retaking the ACT in hopes of receiving a better score. I'm planning on majoring in either political science or international relations.

I am the Chapter President of The National Honor Society, head coach for the National Hispanic Institute debate team, teen staff for the Snowball Club, Youth Director for a non-profit community organization, ran 3 years of cross country and track and field. I'm involved in the Junior Statement of America club serving as VP, and have well over 800 community service hours. I've organized three out-of-state service trips and currently organizing the first international service trip this summer for a youth group. I also interned at the Town Assessor's office. I am taking 5 AP classes this year as well. Should I bother applying or give up hope?

If you can bring up that ACT score i’d say you have a good shot at getting in. Even if you can’t bring it up, I would still apply! It can’t hurt and I know a couple people that got in with ACT scores similar to yours.

Thank you for replying, I definitely hope my ACT scores are better. U of I is my first choice!
