So I took the ACT for the first time in March through my school, and got a 34 composite (35/34/32/34). However, I got only an 8 on the writing test. Considering the somewhat low writing score and the fact that I have only taken it once, should I give the ACT another try? If it helps, I am considering schools like Duke, USC, Illinois, and Baylor.
I dont think so. The difference between a 34 and 36 is minimal, and most schools dont care about the essay score. If you want to be sure, maybe you could email the admission offices
Don’t waste your time.
Nobody really cares about the essay score–it doesn’t measure good writing too well.
Dude, I would be so happy with a 34 composite.
I’m taking my ACT for the third time in June -_-
I know I’m late on commenting but based on your other thread, you must be taking or have taken honors/AP English classes, which would show that you don’t completely suck at writing.
A girl at my school got into Duke with a 33 composite. I’m not sure what her writing score was, but if I had to guess, it probably wasn’t anything outrageously high.
