Worth applying if OOS?

Hello, I am a junior in HS this year and I have started to think about what colleges interest me, and where I could picture myself for 4 years (although I still have another whole year to think about it). I was curious as to whether it is worth applying to some of the higher tier UC schools (LA, SD, Berkeley) if I am an out of state student from Arizona. Money is not too big of an issue. How many people in these schools are not from California?

Another question semi-related to this - I wanted to calculate my UC GPA using that Rogerhub website, but it says I have to enter the number of semesters in each box next to the letter grade. My school uses a trimester system, so should I just count each trimester as a semester?

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

Money is a really big issue: $55K per year as an OOS student. there is limited to no financial aid for OOS students.

Plus, your GPA and SAT should be really high if you hope to even be considered for admission.

There around 9800 OOS students enrolled in the 9 UC campuses. Approximately 3200 at UCB/ 2700 at UCLA and 1100 at UCSD. You need to look at the Freshman profiles for each campus to determine if you will be a competitive applicant.

If you and your family have $220,000 to spend for 4 years to attend one of these UC’s, then apply.

For the Roger Hub calculator, if you input your grades by trimester, you still cannot get an accurate # of honors points since it is capped at 8. I would enter in your 2 grades/class/year and see what you get. Also as an OOS applicant, only AP/IB and DE courses qualify for the extra honors points.
