Worth doing online classes to boost earlier classes that got a B

I had a B in algebra in 8th grade (high school class so it's on my transcript) so should I take an online course and get an A in it to boost my overall GPA up? Is it worth the time/money?

The thing is I thought colleges look at whats 9th grade and above (which is your actual high school years)

What type of classes are these? Does the school approve them? You gotta check all these before you do them or it will be a waste.

I’m actually curious myself. Whats the website for this?

No one cares about middle school. Most schools don’t even care about ninth grade.

Will your school district grant grade forgiveness of a B? Most schools that I know of will only grant grade forgiveness on a grade of D or F. And a B here and there on your transcript will not hurt you, even for the most selevtive schools. If you wish to strengthen your transcript, I would think that taking a more challenging class that your school doesn’t offer is a better option than re-taking an 8th grade algebra class.

No, unless the grade is a wiped from your transcript if you do the online course it’ll just be like “He got an A in algebra I in the 11th grade, big woop.”

no, they REPLACE the grade if I retake it

I am doing this on top of everything else, it’s not like it shows up as a 11th or 12th grade class, it will just replace what it says algebra. I took it in 8th grade but IT IS a high school course so it still shows on my transcript.

No, don’t do it. It’s a waste of time and money.

I think you have a misunderstanding of how this works. They cannot replace a grade for a class taken in 8th grade with a grade from a class taken later in high school, that would unethical. A grade forgiveness policy will replace the grade on your transcript, so colleges will not see the previous grade. But they will see that the class was retaken and the grade will show up on the transcript as a class taken in whatever year you are currently in. It will not be on the transcript as the grade for the class you took in 8th grade. Again, I would check to see what your school and/or distict policy is regarding grade forgiveness. Many will only allow grade forgiveness for a grade lower than a C.
