I want to apply to Columbia ED but I heard that people with less competitive stats are better off with RD.
So here's me: 93 UW GPA, all honors/APs, 2340 SAT, good ECs, etc.
(I don't know if this makes me look like I'm a slacker, but my teachers will write in my recs that I work reall really hard, I just go to a school that ends at 5 each day so I take more classes)

Am I competitive enough to apply ED?

Less competitive stats do not get you admitted RD to a school like Columbia with its 6.7% admit rate. And ED admissions opportunities are not intended as a means for you to “game” the system. They are intended for a student and his or her first choice college to commit to each other early. If Columbia is actually your first choice college, and you do not need to worry about financial aid, apply to Columbia ED. If it is not your first choice college, DON’T apply ED. OK? What is so difficult about that? Either Columbia is you first choice school, or it is not. You are the only one who knows the answer to this question. If it IS your first choice school, take the risk. What more is there to say?

I just heard that for students that are less competitive, they have a better chance at RD, so I wanted to know where I fit…if I am competitive enough to apply early or if its better for me to wait till RD?

You heard wrong, I’m pretty sure…

Go ED if it’s your top choice. Your SAT score is awesome.
