Worth it to take SAT Subject Tests?

I plan on submitting just my ACT score to colleges. I took the SAT last December and January and my scores were just plain bad. I'm wondering if it will be worth it to try two SAT subject tests (US History and Math IIC) to possibly add as a supplement to my application, because I want to have the best possible chance in admissions. All of the schools I am applying to accept ACT in place of both SATs and SAT Subject Tests (or at least I've pretty much constructed my list that way).

So my question is, is just ACT perfectly fine? Or would they prefer to see some subject tests? The only problem with this is that they will then see my terrible SAT score =/. Is it worth it? I guess I could just try it and then not risk having to send them at all. Any help would be appreciated!

Bump - anyone?

Take the SAT II Tests and see what you get, but don't send them, if you can afford it. If the SAT IIs are good then send it, if not don't send it in.

Also, try to see if you can improve the 32 Composite on the ACT.
