Worth it to Transfer? Music Industry

I currently go to a top 15 school and am a freshman majoring in Psych. I turned down a scholarship to the Honors college and Northeastern to study Music Industry because I thought it was not worth it to chose a college simply because of a major, but every time I go to a concert or music festival I have an intense desire to work in the music industry. I'm not in the business school or studying music because I'm not interested in playing music or studying music theory or interested in management really. And I don't see myself really being able to break into the music industry here because I have nothing to offer when applying to internships over people studying the major. Is it worth it to try and transfer? Is being in boston, studying the major with all of the co-ops and internships available going to make a big difference? Is going to a less prestigious university going to be worth it? I really do love it here and don't know what to do. Also does anyone know if you can transfer into the honors college at NEU.

No stay at your top 15 school. What do you want to study in Music? If it isn’t performance, theory or even management what exactly?

Go someplace that supports your interests. If your top 15 school (or town) isn’t providing you with proper opportunities, you should consider transferring.
Knowledge of music theory is not the least bit important in preparing yourself for the music industry. A position in the music business is probably going to revolve more around management, marketing, public relations, or law.
Few schools in the country offer an actual major in Music Business. Some programs of note include the Music Business major at NYU Steinhardt: [Music Business - NYU Steinhardt](Music Business | NYU Steinhardt)
and the Music Business program at the Syracuse Setnor School of Music
[Bandier Program | Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts](http://vpa.syr.edu/music/programs/undergraduate/bandier)

Hope this helps! I’m interested in the music industry as well and I’m working to transfer to one of these programs.

I think I want to try to work in law. Ideally I would love to work for a music festival. I don’t necessarily want to leave here, but I can’t stay here knowing that I’m missing out on an opportunity to do what I want. I don’t really want to get a business degree because here it’s more corporate interests, and business only interests me in relation to music.
