Worth it..?

I feel like it may be a waste of time (and money) applying to UCLA and UC Berkeley because the OOS acceptance rate (FYI: I'm from NJ) is so tiny. I mean I know they're great schools but I just feel like it's going to come down to luck. Any thoughts to help change my mind?

Thank you so much for the help!

I’m from OOS and I’m attending in the fall!

So what if the acceptance rate sucks? All they do when reading applications is scrutinize the OOS ones a little more, it’s not like you’re at a great disadvantage. The stats for OOS are quite similar to the in-state stats too, the bar isn’t set significantly higher. By all means apply!

If you desire to attend Cal, then by all means apply! If you’re confident in yourself, the OOS acceptance rate shouldn’t phase you.

You should apply! The only way to GUARANTEE that you don’t get in is to not apply at all.

at CalSo for FPF, I met a lot of OOS kids that even ended up in CoE which is tough to get into even as in-state. Like they say, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Very true!

Thank you so much for the responses!
