Hi all! I am applying to Stanford, MIT, JHU, and Princeton( I have safeties and I am not setting up too high hopes for them. Let's be practical, they have <5% admit rate for int'l). I want to know what is the worth of an LOR for an international applicant.
I have had 2 veteran teachers write LOR's for me and they plausibly claim that " I am the best student in their entire carrer" They are really really personal and go beyond the normal qualities and reveal things about me more deeply than I ever could.( I have read both of 'em).
But, the thing is my school, though it has a very good name and prestige in my state, has NEVER sent a child to US's colleges. In fact, I am the only one who has given the SAT( I have decent score. greater than 2300).
Now, I'm wondering what will be the weight of those LOR's in my admission process. How much will they help me? Immensely, averagely or meh( they don't care seeing the glorious history of my school :p). Can they tip the scales in my favor?
PS: I am not an excellent writer, but my essays are pretty good. They are ceratinly not the best the colleges would have seen, though.
Thx! Waitin' for a response :)!

For those unis where top scores are common, LORs are very important.

Thx! Does my hailing from an unknown school hurt me?
And how much do LOR’s make up for not very excellent essays? o.O

Bump 10char.

No it will not hurt your chances. Most of admission officer is us are more likely to know the cbse, state boards etc and not about specific schools.
