i got a 770 in math 2 and a 710 in physics.
planning to major in some sort of engineering, so i was wondering if i should retake these tests?

MIT Admissions: Admissions Statistics

Your math and physics scores are within the 50% range for MIT

i'm not apply to mit but applying to the engineering schools for stanford and northwestern.

should i spend time studying for physics again? is the score too low for these competitive schools especially since i want to major in engineering?

Retake. Most people who apply to MIT have at least a 750+ in the sciences. The Physics and Math curve is especially generous. So it would sort of look bad to have those scores. (not that those scores themsleves are bad, just that given for those tests it usually easier to achive higher scores)
