Worth retaking?

I took the SAT and got 800 CR, 680 M, 800 W. I'm mostly happy with this, but my parents want me to retake to raise the math. Is it really worth retaking? I will probably major in philosophy or chemistry.

Are you applying to schools that superscore? Then probably yes, especially if you think you can maintain that CR.

The schools that specify don't superscore, and I'm not sure I'll keep my 800 if I retake. I had a 75 CR on the PSAT last year.

Can anyone show me how to know if a particular college uses "superscore" policy? Is it necessary to contact the Admission Office directly?

i'd say retake it. Math is not that hard anyway
good job on the verbal sections!

What about taking the math IIC test? Get an 800 or close to it on that and you're good.

why not? im retaking a 2380

Even if you lose a few points on CR, it's worth it to raise your math score to a 750ish

^ I would retake it only because your Math is under a 700 which, for many of the competitive schools, is rather low. If you are not 2010, you will also have a nice superscore.

@cc3c
I think that's a bit unnecessary, but @OP I think if the colleges superscore, then go for it you have nothing to lose!
if not, then take the MathIIC and do well, and I'm sure adcoms will overlook the 680
Good luck!!

i apologize, but i think you should still retake it to boost up the math.

Yes, seriously, seemed like you were just flaunting your score...

Is there solid proof that an 800 in MATH II overrides a SAT I score? They still test very different things.

i already apologized, but i was making a point. The math 2 is harder so it should help

Anyone can answer my questions please?
"how to know if a particular college uses "superscore" policy? Is it necessary to contact the Admission Office directly?"

Most colleges use a superscore policy to complement your individual SAT scores... although I'm not sure specifically which college.

I've taken the Math 1, but haven't gotten my score yet. If I do well on that will it be enough? Math 2 isn't really an option because I haven't taken high enough math for it.

^ It should be enough. Just beware of the tight curve compared to Math II

I just got my ACT results and got a 31 math (32 composite). Should I send it to all my schools?

^ That's not bad at all. Yes, I would recommend sending it.

Hey OP, want to trade your 800 CR for my 800 Math? :D
and yes, you should retake.
