Is it going to hurt your chances…there is no way of telling because UVA looks at more than just grades…your ECS will matter too.

IB will help, what I find interesting is your course load…not saying you are exaggerating, but I have never ever heard of anybody taking Calc let alone AP as a soph. I am unaware of any middle school, unless private, that has Alg I, Alg II and Geometry…Alg I yes, geometry, possibly, but Alg II also… That means for you you took Pre-Alg in 5th grade a course that is given to the typical gifted child in 7th grade, and academically avg child in 8th. In our IB program you take IB precalc, functions and derivatives, (or another option I can’t remember) than Calc (which is IB…not AP)

Don’t know what state you are from, but our hs here in No.VA…has IB, the only one in the county, we have AP also, but you can’t do both routes…1 or the other b/c IB starts as a freshman and has a track…my DD was allowed to transfer into the IB program b/c we came from OOS (NC where there was an AP program), however her Math, Sci, Engl and History are all IB’s and there is a particular track that she must follow.

My only guess is that you are on semesters (4 X 4), which allows you to do dual tracks, however, knowing the IB program I am pretty amazed that you could have any ECS with that load.

The other infor you need to supply besides your gpa is how many of the APs did you score 4/5 on, b/c that will make a difference in how comp. you are. UVA will re-weight your GPA due to how weighting and grading can vary (90 in one area = A, in another it is a B). Your AP scores will show you on a level field across the nation.

Finally, you should show maturity…yes, you are a kid, but the grade you earned was from someone with a degree…last time I checked you do not have even a hs degree.
