Would a 2 with legacy get in

I realize this is the place to put this…

what is the chance of a 2 getting in - but with legacy

i have a 1480, 3.98(unweighted), 4.83(weighted), i am 18 out of 722 - which puts me in the top 3%

my sat2s: 800 world history, 800 biology, 800 math2, 790 US History

any input????

I'm not so familiar with the number system, but I imagine 1 is the highest. Your grades and scores look pretty good, and legacy will help a little (although it would have helped more if you did ED). It's hard to predict RD at Amherst, but you have a shot. Is the 1480 out of 1600?

yeah

i ahve an 800 in writting so i have a 2280

I was referring to a link let me see if i can find it

here it is

http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_09/b3973092.htm

did anyone check the link?

I think a 2 legacy (meaning parent) is likely to get in, but it would have been much more of a sure thing ED.

you would have a chance to get in even without legacy. some schools only count legacy if a.) the applicant is ED, b.) the parent donates serious money for a RD app. You look like a good student otherwise though, so of course you have a chance, and if you have good Extra Curr's and amherst values that legacy, i'd give you a very good chance of getting in.

And notwithstanding the legacy status, make sure those essays are stellar! No interviews, so they find out who you are from them. Good luck!

its too late to change the essay....

I hope you get in, you seem really qualified.

I took a look at that 1-7 chart thingy.

My SAT score (1530/2330) is in the 1 range, but my GPA/rank is in the 2 range (top 3.5%)... So what category would Amherst put me in? Would they say like, low 1/high 2?
And based on solely academics, does anyone know about what percentage of 1s/2s are accepted?

Just curious, if anyone can help.

I think that at least you would be placed in a pile to look at again. And then there are those dreaded essays....
