would a 3.6 be a higher class rank in a hard school than in an easy one?

right now i have a 3.6 and my guidance counselor is like completely useless and doesn't tell me anything. our school doesn't do class rank.

so suppose i had a 3.6 in a competitive school and a 3.6 in a easy school. in which school would i have the higher class rank?

A majority of competitive schools don’t rank. And a 3.6 in a competitive doesn’t happen as often because of grade deflation. And that’s hard to say, but you will likely have a higher rank in an easy school.

My school doesn’t rank either! And we don’t even have GPA, we have QPA, which they don’t tell us about until June.
But toxic is right, most competitive schools don’t rank because they’re classes are all equal, in the sense that they are college prep. or honors. My school only does Val. and Sal.

what do you mean when you say that “a 3.6 doesn’t happen as often due to grade deflation”?

Harder classes. It’s pretty much impossible to get an A+ in an AP/honors class at my school, let alone multiple A/A+s.

So you don’t know about class rank, but in terms of how it looks to colleges (which is more important than a subjective stat like rank), the 3.6 would be much better at a more competitive school.
