Ok, yes I keep hearing that Tisch will focus primarily on my portfolio, and ECs and recs. I have also heard that if all of those are really strong, and you have a 3.0 or above and decent ACT and SATs that you are probably ok to get in, the hardest part is the portfolio. I hope this is all true, I think that’s the gist of what everyone has told me.

to whomever said it’s easy to get into… this is not true. No top level school is “not really that hard to get into at all.”

NYU had a 24% acceptance rate for the Class of 2012, which puts it amongst the most competitive in the nation, whether Stern or not. Stern undergrad’s acceptance was 21%, which doesn’t deviate too much from the other schools despite misconceptions.

“comfortable” stats for NYU would be 3.65+ GPA and 1300+/2000+ SATs, but still, you never know.

Yeah I agree that it’s difficult. I think having a portfolio that stands out is even harder than having good grades these days. Especially considering all the talented people applying and the fact that admissions looks for people that are unique. I don’t think anybody really knows how the admissions people at Tisch think!

do i have a shot at nyu? being a student at smc and planning on transferring there as a junior with a 3.37 GPA?
