Would a transfer school rescind admission over changing a course from graded to P/F?

I recently became quite ill and it unfortunately has severely impacted my performance in Calc III. I will most likely receive a B in the class (possibly lower), which would severely damage my GPA. As such, I’m considering changing the grade option to Pass/Fail. The deadline to do so is about a week away.

My worry is that I will be admitted to one of the schools I applied for transfer (I will hear back in may), then this acceptance will be rescinded due to changing the grade option for one of my classes. How likely is this?

You aren’t going to get rescinded for a B. So if you can pull that off, keep the letter grade. That one B is not going to make your overall GPA hopeless for future purposes, so keep the B.

If your health has been so bad that you are considering a P/F instead of a B, you should be asking for a Medical Withdrawal from the class instead.

If I can avoid it, I don’t want the B on my transcript. Especially because if I do transfer, it will impact my GPA at my current institution quite a bit. I also don’t want to withdraw from the class.

Is changing to P/F considered changing my coursework? Should I alert the colleges of this change, or is it not considered a change in coursework? Is it risky to make this change, such that I should just bite the bullet and take the B?
