Hi and sorry for posting this even though results are in a couple of days. I am really worried and doubtful, but I still have hope. I was rejected to sd, la, and slo. I was also waitlisted to irvine but accepted to Davis...
Anyway my sat score is 1780 which i know is extremely low.
My uw gpa is 3.5 and it should be 3.9 or 4.0 weighted, which is also extremely low.
I was an officer for vietnamese club and got 50 hours of community service from it.
I also got about 40 to 50 hours with interact club.
My essays were decent, I talked about my mom being diagnosed with cancer and my dad losing his job in that time period( I had to work and realized a good education would help). The other essay was about how working on my car made me want to be an engineer.
I received a borderline supplementary questionnaire and I think I answered it fairly well.
My ap gov teacher wrote me a letter of rec and It should be pretty good as I have seen her writing before.

Do you guys think I have a shot at all? My stats are really low for Berkeley let alone eecs. What do you guys think?

I’m sorry, I really hope you get it, but for EECS… for L&S you might have a shot. Those SATs, EC and GPA, like what you said, are low/not very good even for non-CoE applicants. Many with 800s for Math/Math II don’t even get in. ): Keep your fingers crossed, though!

So pretty much my chances are slim, maybe not even that right? I hope some miracle happens. Have you heard of anybody getting in EECS with below average stats, something similar to mine or is that unheard of?

your chances for eecs is below zero!

darn I guess I shouldn’t put my hopes up.

To answer your question, unfortunately, no. I’ve heard stories about tons of crazy geniuses who don’t get in though (probably lack of ECs). I’m curious though, why EECS and not CS?

I didn’t know much about impaction of majors. I chose it because my cousin majored in it. would I have had a good shoot at cs? so my chances are eecs is 0 %?

The fact that you got a supplementary questionnaire is a good sign, but unfortunately your stats will probably prevent you from getting in. Your chances aren’t 0%, but you should not get your hopes up.

Don’t listen to these guys. Based on past years, people who received the supplement had a 50/50 chance of being admitted. You have a 50/50 chance, assuming you answered the supplement questions well.
Good luck!!

oh that makes me feel a little better. as long as my chances aren’t 0% I’ll have some hope. so you guys have heard of super geniuses not getting but have you hear of anyone with below average stats getting in?

^ Nope. Not for EECS. You do realise that it’s probably the most selective major here at Cal right? Your motivations for choosing it alone makes you a less appealing candidate. CS is in L&S, while EECS is in CoE. The selectivity between these two differs quite a bit, with CoE being more selective.

Of course, your chances aren’t 0%. But chancing you by percentage doesn’t help much, after all, with a 90% chance of admittance there’s still a 10% chance of rejection (and these numbers are by no means accurate in the first place). Just don’t think too much about it, enjoy these two days and relax. Whatever happens, will happen. (:

Thanks Eloriel haha. I need to stop thinking about this and you are right about what happens, will happen. Things happen for a reason right hah.
