Would Brown be a good fit for me?

Hello!

I’m going into my senior year and although I previously had Brown ruled out, now I’m reconsidering it, loathe as I am to add more reaches to my list. :’) I didn’t want to apply because of the open curriculum - I thought that would be a bad fit for me because I really want to get out of my comfort zone and take classes in everything, and even though I’m planning on being a STEM major, general education requirements would help me do that. Then I realized, if there’s an open curriculum it’s even easier for me to do that, and that could be an ideal way to branch out! The other reason I was against Brown is because of how overwhelmingly liberal/“PC” I’ve heard the campus culture is, and although I’m very, very liberal, I didn’t want my college experience to be a huge echo chamber.

I’m an averagely above-average white girl with some neat EC’s, and for reference, my top choices are Stanford, Northwestern, UMich, and Cornell. (I really want a big school spirit vibe as well.) Overall, do you think Brown would be a good school for me to apply to?

What are your criteria? I can’t see the common thread of the 5 schools you mention.

@snarlatron

-Bigger school
-Sporty, school spirit vibe
-Great academics, especially in STEM
-Prefer suburban or rural, but as long as the campus isn’t smack dab in the middle of the city/most social life revolves around campus I’m good
-Theatre scene on campus (unsure if Stan and Cornell fit this category, but I figure they’re big enough schools that there has to be a contingent of theatre kids on campus)

loathe (v) - to hate or scorn

loath (adj) - unwilling, hesitant, or reluctant

But yeah, Brown seems to fit your criteria fairly well, although it’s not much of a “rah-rah school spirit” kinda place.

@marvin100 Thanks! I wish I could edit my post, lol. We’ll see how many supplementals I really want to write next year, and then we’ll see, I guess. I can’t believe the Common App and the UC App both come out in two days… aah!
