Would Carleton rescind my acceptance if...

I were to be arrested for marijuana possession during my pre-frosh summer? I haven't got caught or anything, I'm just trying to weigh the risks, y'know.

Is this a serious question? If you haven’t been caught… don’t risk it!

Yeah, probably.

Honestly, just go out and do what you want to do (I’ll be doing the same…). I have just three words of advice: don’t get caught.

Also, try to be chill during New Student Week and during the first weeks of fall term. There will be a bunch of freshmen who just go crazy during those first few weeks (like getting their stomachs pumped in the ER along with generally being obnoxious). You don’t want to be one of them. Campus Security knowing your name from Day 1 is never a good thing.

Good advice from all. I don’t think I’ll abstain entirely, but I’ll be careful - no rolling in cars for sure. I don’t want to blow it all now.

Honestly, I doubt it. I had a mini panic attack when I was checking my mid-quarter grades this term, so I started researching the likelihood of colleges rescinding admission offers. Basically, what I found seemed to say you either have to a) not graduate or b) commit murder for them to rescind you.

I second some of what ahhmotherland said…if you’re extremely careful, then I think you’ll be okay.

mflevity, thanks for the warning as well. I didn’t realize that new student week could be that crazy! Fortunately as an athlete I probably wouldn’t be able to anyway.

It’s not really that crazy…it’s just that there will be a handful of people away from home for the first time who are still figuring out how to handle themselves.

Haha…makes sense. Still, thanks for the heads up :)

Just be careful, Drought. … Take a page from the book of our 42nd president: don’t inhale. :)

…talking about Presidents…drug use of some kind seems to be a requirement these days if you are to become President. Carleton needs an Alum that finally becomes President, so consider this when making your decision to smoke Pot or not.

…just kidding…trying to be funny…:)

On the more serious side, I would not recommend it. I don’t see how people suceed at any school with there heads all messed up with pot and/or heavy alcohol use.

Oh, please. Occasionally drinking socially and/or smoking weed doesn’t hinder one’s academic abilities in the least. In fact, some of the most intelligent, diligent people I know (including some at the school I’ll be attending next year) drink much more frequently than many of the so-called “slackers” of my high school.

Just because one dabbles in drug (I’m including alcohol here) use doesn’t mean one has “there (sic) heads all messed up.”

And yeah, Drought… I don’t think hotboxing would be such a good idea ;)
